Bathroom Cleaning Tips

Getting rid of unpleasant grime and dirt from your bathroom isn’t as complicated as people assume. With a few tricks, removing odors and bacteria is achievable. Consider the following tips to turn your bathroom into the place you have always imagined it would be.

Cleaning the shower

Start at the top. The best way to clean the shower head is by submerging it in a plastic bag that contains a good volume of white vinegar.

Tie up the bag securely around the shower head and leave it the entire night. In the morning, untie the setup and run water over the shower head to rinse it.

To clean plastic shower liners and curtains, throw them into the washing machine together with some old towels and some detergent. (The towels scrub the dirt that may have accumulated on the plastic material.) Dry them by hanging when done.

To clean shower doors, mix a cup of baking soda with white vinegar then apply the mixture to the door. After an hour rub off using a microfiber cloth.

Cleaning the toilet

Begin by applying an even coat of baking soda to the toilet bowl and after leaving it for five minutes, scrub it then flush.

If some spots are still visible, make use of pumice stone to get rid of the stains left behind by lime scale and mineral deposits.

It is also wise to clean the toilet brush after use. To do this, sandwich the handle between the toilet basin and the seat so that the brush hangs above the bowl, then drench the bristles with bleach. After a few minutes, rinse the bristles with clean water.

To clean the brush canister, fil it with soapy water and leave it for 15 minutes. Get rid of the dirty water by pouring it into the toilet. If excess grime has covered the toilet, getting a small pressure washer might be a wise idea.

A pressure washer makes it easy to reach hidden areas such as the crevice between the hinges of the seat.

Cleaning walls, ceilings and tiles

You need an all-purpose cleaner for these areas. Cover walls, tiles, the ceiling and countertops in an even fine spray then turn the shower on. Let the hot water pour until steam gathers in the room.

After five minutes, turn the water off and close the door as you exit. Don’t access the room for the next 20 minutes to let the cleaner and steam mix.

Proceed to wipe all surfaces using a clean cloth. To effectively reach high surfaces, attach a dry microfiber cloth to the end of a mop.

Don’t forget to clean the tiles on the floor after you are done with the walls, ceilings and surfaces in the upper region.

How to clean hand towels correctly

Wash hand towels in your washing machine if it has a sanitizing setting. Alternatively, bleach them. After every four or five days, swap the used towels with clean ones.

Instead of hanging the towels on a hook, spread them out on a flat surface that is adequately aerated.
